Our Farmers
Please view information about each farmer or producer we work with by clicking on the names in the left column.
Our farmers are from Fauquier and nearby counties in Virginia. We are building community by linking farmers and customers directly. Some of our farms are organic while other farms practice more traditional agriculture and there will be farms in between. Each farmer's biography will detail their philosophy and growing methods. More specific questions can be directed to each farmer via email. From our experience, farmers care a lot about the product they produce and strive to please their customers while respecting their land and animals.
Farmer Girls, Deanna and Deborah, have studied local food distribution models from all over the country and developed this model based on:
1. A way to get local customers the widest and best selection of local food by using the ease of the internet.
2. A truly sustainable business model.
3. What's best for farmers, because it is ultimately what is best for customers too.
As farmers ourselves, we have learned first hand the difficulties of selling and distributing our own farm products, from the low price a farmer accepts when selling wholesale, to the amount of time a farmers' market can eat up, to the difficulties of driving all over the region to deliver orders. We believe our model will put an end to these problems for farmers and allow customers a convenvient way to have more of the best locally-raised farm products. And when we, as we hope to, can guarantee a market for farmers and a reasonable price they will, in turn, have more time to spend farming and growing and raising the best food possible for our customers. It's a win-win scenario.
